Summer Reading Club 2020 is for everyone: babies, kids, teens and adults.
Read library books and earn prizes this summer.

Registration begins June 1. Register yourself with Beanstack online or with the Beanstack Tracker app. In person registration is available at the library. See the Summer Reading Club page for all the details. All prizes must be claimed by August 1.

Adults will log the number of library books read this summer. You can track your reading by using Beanstack or by having the library staff log your books.

  • Read 5 books and earn a book bag (first 250 patrons).
  • First person to read 10 books at each branch will earn a $10 gift card to Jay-C.

A prize drawing will take place at the end of summer for any adult logging at least one book read in the Summer Reading Club. Prizes will include:

  • a bag of books for 1 person at each branch
  • 2 tickets to Derby Dinner Playhouse
  • a $10 restaurant gift card

Our annual canvas painting is going virtual! This event is for adults 18+ only. Registration is required and ends June 1. Painting kits with all your supplies, including paint, brushes, and canvas, will be made available for you to pick up.

Live Online on Thursday, June 18 at 6 pm

Register on our Calendar. An email address is required at registration. In the notes field, tell us at which library branch you want to pick up your kit. 24-48 hours before the event, you will receive an email with a link to the live Facebook event, where Uptown Art will be instructing you on how to paint this picture! If you do not receive the email, please contact us at 812-256-3337. If you cannot make it for the live event, the video will be available for you to watch at a later time.

Book A Luncheon

Book A Luncheon is a monthly book club for adults. It meets on the first Thursday of each month at Charlestown Library from 12:15-1:00 pm. Next upcoming date to be announced.

This is an adult arts and crafts program that happens one Monday every month at Charlestown Library from 2-4 pm. Next upcoming date to be announced.

This is a drop-in program. All materials provided unless otherwise stated. Open to anyone 18 or older.


a cookbook Coffee Break with Cookbooks

This is a program to discuss the art of cooking, share cooking tips, sample recipes, and browse new cookbooks.

Participants can bring a sample of a recipe for that month's topic to share with the group. Be sure to bring a copy of the recipe.
